Get knocked down 7 times, pick yourself up 8 times..
It’s the middle of July and it’s still raining! However, the
law of average dictates that it should get better. I really hope it does..
Faced with this site before a commute cycling to work this week was not nice!
So after a crappy ride to work, I got a real treat on the
way home when I decided to attempt an Haugh Woods hill climb!
Talk about zen time! :)
I’m happy that my climbing is coming along really
well! Where as in the past I used to just try and push in a high gear and use
my body weight to spin the peddles round, now I’m producing more revolutions
in a lower gear (still high enough that I am feeling resistance) which is all
good! :D
As ya do...
The past couple of weeks I have been smashing out some good
training and racing, even though the weather has been sh*t and I’m feeling a
little bit tired!
Couple of Tuesdays ago I got home from work around 8pm and
done a 6 mile run in the sunset. Including 4 hill reps of a hill near Brampton Abbots...
was amazing! Times like that when you get a restored love for running!
Then in that week Stuart and I done a 10 mile TT cycling 2
up. I have never done anything like that before and to be honest struggled. Anyone
who as ever cycled with me would know that I can’t keep pace! I feel that I’m
riding too slowly so I speed up and end up dropping the person who is following
me. Not good!
So to keep pace, in a time trial was really painful! I got
shouted back a couple of times.
All in all we got a time of 26.45 on the Walford course,
which is my personal best. However, I know we can and will do better!
Mud runner
As races go, mud runner is a strange one. Its pretty expensive, it’s
busy and all for a cross country! Christ on a bike though, it is addictive! I’ve
done the icebreaker which is the duathlon and I have just completed the
oblivion. Just the Classic to go and I will be a mud master! Happy days!
Because of the volume of people, we went off in waves of 200 |
High knees and running straight through the water worked well |
staying focused |
Last hill to the finish, overtook 5 runners. Hill training paying off. |
Rabbit in the Headlights.. |
One thing that must be said about these races,
Everyone’s friendly, there’s good competition and you get
really good post-race treatment!
26 out of 1160… woop woop!
In October Fuzz, Chappers, Mr L, Dale and I are going to do the classic. I have known these guys for years.. can't wait! :D
