and Christ on a bike, what a Christmas!
On the weeks leading up to the big day I always start to get less keen on the whole idea. I mean the concept of buying a gift of say a tin of celebrations... then giving it to a dear friend in return for a tin of celebrations. Its a bit of a flawed concept that definitely needs revising.
However, the concept of winding down after a tough couple of months and hanging out with friends and family with a tidy 2 week break (OK, 3 days of working spread out over 2 weeks isn't a bad deal!) is a big win =]
Obviously like every Christmas break, its very important to kick it all off with a round on the driving range with a couple of College mates...

Another vital component to the concept of christmas is the Christmas day and eve walk. The Christmas day walk consisted of walking out and around Newport with Dad and N, followed by Coffee in a swanky hotel and a very nice meal at auntie Wendy's (Industrial feeding if you ask me!).
Its got to be said that there was a very much loved person missing from the table, however, there was a lot of reminiscing over the fantastic times we all shared with our Nan and we still had all our respective presents and cards (Nan as always been ultra organised!).
We all know she was looking at us with a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face. =]

The next important component is the Christmas Day run. Every Christmas day many runners across the land head out on a run... this is what makes the Christmas day running club! (as per www.runnersworld.co.uk) Unfortunately I could not participate this year because of my Sh*t ankle and Gastrocnemius syndrome! So, out on the bike in the early morning sun seemed like a cracking idea!
This also goes for Boxing day where we had a 10 mile Cycling TT on the Old Gore course...

Was early, so Zen time by a gate overlooking a water drenched field was a big YES |

The Time trial went well I managed a 30.06, which was my slowest time on that course. However, with only 6 hours sleeps, Industrial amounts of Chocolate and Turkey and the fact it was a bit windy and nippy... I was rather happy to be Riding rather than Hiding!
This week I'm thinking up New years resolutions... so far, Showing compassion and working hard come to mind, no doubt in the coming day's I will be dreaming up more.
Merry Christmas to all!
