Christmas Holidays continued....

Firstly... 6 weeks ago I was getting ready to beat my PB at an Half Marathon. 6 weeks later I am feeling enthusiastic about another aspect of running, running 4 miles with no niggles! I managed 4 miles and for once of a better description, it felt like I was on a recovery run, like you would do the day after a marathon or a Half marathon. Anyway, Glad to be back on the trainers!

Unfortunately on the other side of the coin I never managed to finish my 50 commutes in one year. I could make excuses but the main reason was weakness. The fact its been raining everyday for the last 8 weeks as just killed off the idea of wanting to commute. Also the idea of turning up to work/college soaking wet is not good!

So the finishing Stats on the commute challenge are
  • 38 rides / out of a possible 50 in 52 weeks...
  • 1330 miles cycled
  • £95 saved in fuel, with further more savings made in insurance, wear and tear etc. which would add up to a staggering £365! (Its a bit inappropriate because Insurance, Tax and MOT as already been accounted for.)
Who knows what 2013 will bring...

Alongside this...

The bit between Christmas and New year can get very boring... The only things to do is eat chocolate, watch films and spend money in the sales...

Clearly, there are the options of throwing in some Bike rides, Runs and walks into the equation... But this year we had some painting to be done down my Dads.

So Dale, Domi, L and I set off down to Porthcawl in the bid to paint the converted attic area at my Dads...

During this trip we learnt some important things and some very useful painting techniques off Mr L
The importance of a good breakfast

The need to wear HI-Vis, this is to meet the 1974 Health and Safety at work act!

The need to have your position within the job on your Hi Vis

The need to prep your work area and cut into corners, skirting boards and windows.

With the ability to look like your paying attention to what Mr L is telling you...
Of cause, in between coats of paint and the constant eating and drinking, it is necessary to get out and walk. With Dad living just 10 minutes from the beach, this was a mega bonus!

L walking up the pier

The sea was seriously rough

So rough in fact, within ten seconds of taking this photo, a wave came over and soaked us through!

D man just about to get very very wet!

Dale and L post wave attack

Of cause, after the walk, it is important to get changed and dry your wet clothes... just not directly on the fire MR L. Well, either that or he Sh*tted himself when that wave came over!
Day's after painting, New years spun around rather fast. What better way to celebrate 2013 coming into play than going for a super night out in Bath.

Between us there is 26 years at High school, 12 years at college and 2 years at uni.... How?

Dale and L... Digging the camera work!

Followed by the wander around Bath...

Excellent work!

So there it is... Christmas 2012 and the new year 2013 (Chinese New year "13, the year of the snake) is here... Time to make it count!

Have a prosperous and Happy New year!! :D
